Our Philosophy

The goal of a good nursery program is to create a warm , happy and caring environment, where children can grow emotionally, cognitively and physically.  Early childhood research tells us that it is in the first 5 years of life that the seeds for learning, exploration, curiosity and kindness are developed.

The Gan Amy philosophy is learning entirely through laughter and play. When learning is made fun , the children absorb the concepts on a higher level and retain them for longer. While the children in the Gan are busy with their playing and exploration, our teachers are hard at work integrating  learning concepts into their play. Exploration of new ideas in art, science, math and nature are infused into our weekly curriculum planning.  Each of our classrooms become a world where Jewish values are modeled and reinforced and Hebrew language roots begin.

The early childhood years are also when the seeds of empathy and kindness and good citizenship are planted. At Gan Amy we use every day to instill the need for inclusiveness, kindness and empathy in our children for each other as well as others. Children are taught to  love all of Hashem’s creatures and  show empathy and kindness to all living things. Good citizenship and behavior is spoken about on a consistent basis with our children, instilling in them a kindness and love for each other that’s palpable.
